I have always been a dino freak/geek. Since Michael Crichton's first "Jurassic Park" book and Steven Spielberg's movie adaptation in 1993, I have not stopped learning about dinosaurs! If you have anyone who enjoys dinos, even just a little, then here are some ways to enjoy National Fossil Day!
~HUNT for dinos in your backyard! That’s right, the Easter Bunny isn’t the only one who can hide treasures! While the kiddos are at school or napping, hide some dinos around the yard! If you don't have any dinos, then try a silly substitute borrow some other small toys! When they go outside, hand them a bucket and let them explore!
~Grab some play dough and make some impressions…of anything! Toy cars, dolls, utensils…anything that has a hard surface can make imprints, and it can become a fossil!
~Make some salt dough and create fossils that harden! This simple recipe is so much fun to make…it is 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of salt, and 1/2-1 cup of water! Mix until you have a ball of not-too-dry and not-too-wet dough… then press away! You can bake in the oven for 45 minutes at 250 degrees or leave it in the sun to dry! As an extra bonus, you can paint them once dried; brushing on tea or coffee makes them appear to be “old” or aged!
~Explore some websites. Here are some I personally like!

I am a fossil freak and hope that maybe, for just one day, your kiddo can be one, too!
