The Polar Plunge or Penguin Plunge events in Rhode Island have become beloved winter traditions, attracting locals and visitors alike to brave the chilly waters for a good cause. Everyone shares in the thrill of braving the cold, icy January waters, which we normally rush to in the Summertime to cool off in! People love the idea of facing the cold head-on and pushing themselves out of their comfort zones. The initial shock of the cold water is met with exhilaration, making it a memorable, adrenaline-filled activity.

Most plunges in Rhode Island, such as the Polar Bear Plunge, raise money for charitable causes, particularly for the Special Olympics.
