Celebrate the 39th year of our Independence Day weekend with a stunning fireworks display on Monday, July 1st and a lively parade on Thursday, July 4th. Partnering with Ocean State Pyrotechnics, we will light up the sky with a breathtaking display set off from a barge in the Block Island Sound, best seen from any location on the island at dusk.
Our theme for this year is Time Travel- Our History and Our Future, and we invite everyone to join the festivities, either by participating in the parade or lining up along the route to watch the show. Local businesses, organizations, families, or individuals are welcome to sign up early and be a part of our celebration by filling out our participant form. Arrive at The Oar with your float on July 4th at 9 a.m. to secure your spot in the lineup.
The parade route runs along West Side Road, starting at The Oar and ending at the roundabout at the statue of Rebecca, passing through Ocean Avenue, Dodge Street, and Water Street. A small committee will judge the parade and award prizes for grand prize, first place, second place, and honorable mention in the categories of business or organization and family or individual.
