Rhode Island has a vibrant farmers market scene, offering a variety of fresh produce, artisanal goods, and local crafts. With locations all throughout the state, each farmers market has its own atmosphere, with much to offer the entire family. Some offer more than fresh produce and the smell of artisan bread; a few whisk us away to a calming, tranquil scene with the sounds of local musicians. Children are often encouraged to join in the market scene with the offer of farming crafts, site tours, and farm animals.
Markets are open on weekdays and weekends, so we all get a chance to get out and enjoy some of the
freshest products our beautiful state has to offer!
Tips for Shopping at Farmers Markets
- Bring Reusable Bags: Help reduce waste by bringing your own bags.
- Arrive Early or Late: Early arrivals get the best selection, while latecomers might find deals as vendors are keen to sell the remaining produce.
- Talk to the Vendors: Don’t hesitate to ask questions about the products. Vendors are often happy to share their knowledge and give tips on how to best use their products.
- Try Something New: Use the opportunity to try new and unfamiliar produce or products. Vendors often offer samples.
By shopping at local farmer's markets, you get access to fresh, high-quality food and contribute to your local community. So, make it a point to visit your local farmers market and enjoy all the benefits it has to offer!
