May Showers bring May Flowers?

With the amount of rain recently, I'm starting to wonder if this year it's may flowers or may showers! I hope all the macaroni mama's out there had a wonderful mother's day and got pampered and spoiled! The rain has cleared up and it looks like (fingers crossed) it'll be an amazing weekend to get outside and have some fun so get out there and enjoy the weather!

Food Allergy and Awareness Week

Facts EVERY Parent Should Know

Do you read every label, on every package of food, every week, at the grocery store?  Have you ever feared for your child’s life as you took them to a friend’s birthday party or school celebration?  Do you bake most things from scratch so you can control the ingredients?  Chances are no, unless you have a child or family member with a life-threatening food allergy.
It is estimated that 15 million Americans have food allergies and there has been a dramatic increase in the last few years by ...

National Kids to Parks Day

Just what is National Kids to Parks Day, anyway?  Simply put, every family in America is invited to attend a local park, state park, or national park and play the day away!  Rhode Island Doesn't have any National Parks but we have loads of local and state ones that you can take advantage of. You can also go to www.kidstoparks.org and pledge to go to a park with your family on May 19th.  Pretty cool!

This is the perfect opportunity to "unplug" and enjoy the great outdoors ...

Macaroni Cares

It's bug season

According to the National Pest Management Association, an unseasonably warm winter is expected to bring bugs and pests out of hibernation early this year, meaning we’re in store for prolonged mosquito season. Rather than turning to toxic bug sprays to fight against mosquito-borne viruses like West Nile and Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), Mom’s everywhere can count on PIC® to help protect their families from dangerous mosquito bites with two unique products that provide maximum protection with all-natural ingredients that don’t need to be applied to skin.

Wildlife Weekend

Macaroni Cares

Join the movement! Macaroni Kid is helping Dawn educate more than 2 million kids this spring about the issues affecting wildlife, from oil spills to backyard ecosystems. Check out the FREE, downloadable lesson plans and experiments for teachers and parents. The fun doesn't end in the classroom – you'll also find FREE "Wildlife Weekend" family activities that you can do in your own backyard.

To continue Dawn's 30+ year commitment to preserving wildlife, Dawn worked with their partners at The Marine Mammal Center and International Bird Rescue to ...

Egg Souffle

This is a family favorite delicious breakfast/brunch dish that is easy to make.

6 eggs
1 cup flour
1/4 cup Orange Juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 lb butter
1 cup milk

Mix all ingredients together.  Melt butter in pan and then pour mixture into pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Garnish with raspberries, blueberries, strawberries or any combination of the three.  I put powdered sugar on top, but maple syrup works too.
